Peter works as a purchasing manager / purchasing agent for a large national corporation. He is in charge of finding suppliers and coordinating purchases for parts and materials for everything that comes into their plant.
Stressed
Organized
Personality
Peter's career success is a clear derivative of his guiding principle: hard work. Although he never thought he would end up as a purchasing manager, he enjoys the work and the challenge that it brings. Peter has been at his current company a long time, working his way up through the ranks. Pretty much everything he knows he learned on the job. From finding and vetting suppliers to negotiating deals, he knows that the skills required in his role can't be completely taught in college. He is proud of his hard work over the years and what he has accomplished.
As a purchasing manager, he is in charge of the supplier relationships. While he has several commodity buyers who handle most of the day-to-day activities of working with suppliers and orders, he still does some of this himself with the suppliers he likes and has a good relationship with. When new suppliers need to be found for a new part, Peter is the one who is responsible for finding and vetting them.
Because he has many responsibilities, Peter needs to be organized to get everything done. Therefore, he needs communication to be quick and timely. If issues arise, he needs to know as soon as possible so that he can adapt and shift things around as needed. He is good at solving problems, but can only do so if he knows they exist.
Further, while he is evaluated heavily on concrete metrics such as cost and delivery times, he also likes to know the reason behind why things are what they are. He is good at solving issues that come up, so when he is made aware of challenges, he can step in and work together to find a solution.

Evan works as an engineering manager at a large national or multinational corporations. In his role, he designs parts and is responsible to make sure everything works on the end product.
Orderly
Realistic
Personality
As an Engineering Manager, Evan splits his time between designing parts and systems and managing his team. While he likes managing his few direct reports, he still enjoys doing the actual engineering work. However, he also feels as though there is a lot of administrative work (like answering email and attending meetings) that he has to do but doesn't really enjoy. Because of this Evan appreciates when things are streamlined and efficient and don't take up more of his time than needed.
Evan is very task-oriented and usually expects that other people are as well. He loves accomplishing things and designing good parts and systems. While he likes doing things himself, through the years he has come to appreciate having a smart team with whom he can collaborate and come up with good solutions.
As an engineer with a technical mind, Evan sometimes struggles to communicate clearly and concisely with people who don't have a technical background. Because of this, he prefers to deal with other engineers instead of salespeople or account managers. He finds that he is able to understand engineers better and doesn't have to worry about anything getting lost in translation. Plus, he loves solving problems, so he likes having a seat at the table when troubleshooting issues.
Finally, since he is busy with lots of responsibilities, Evan likes clear, concise and proactive communication which helps him spend more time on the things he likes instead of "boring" administrative work.
